Zaika - Authentic Northern Indian Cuisine

North Indian cuisine, is a term use to refer to the cuisines found in northern India. The food of North India traces its descent from Persian ancestors. North Indian dishes used to grace the tables of emperors. Now, Zaika is offering you the chance to dine like a king, without requiring you to rule a country.

The interior part of the restaurant is just as sophisticated as the name of the restaurant itself. Dimmed lighting blend with Indian instruments playing softly through your ears give a delightful ambiance to the restaurant. The kitchen area is viewable through a glass, you can see how the chefs prepare the food right in front of your eyes. I think the main reason they did it this way is to give customers the peace of mind that all their foods are prepared in the most hygienic way.

While waiting for your orders to arrive, you will be served with this Indian cracker eaten with 3 types of sauce. I don't know what they called it. But it taste good, it bring a little bit of spiciness in it. Will surely stimulate your taste bud.

Their list of drinks has a very sensual and sultry names. For example this drink on the left is called Angrezi Kiss, with the unique taste of lychee and fresh lime.

As for this drink on the right, it was given the name Zaika Sutra. It has a sensual potion of passion fruit and plum in it. Both drinks are ideal to wash away the spicy aftertaste in your mouth.

Bhutey Ke Kebab - Hearty corn kebab, served with yogurt sauce.

Chicken Samosa - Folded pastry filled with minced chicken and spices. A popular snack in South Asia for centuries.

Tandoori Bahar - A mixed tandoori taster plate of fish, chicken tikka, malmali seekh (minced meat with spices), prawn and lamb chop. If you're not sure which tandoori dishes to choose from, give this one a try. It have a little bit of everything inside.

Bhindi Naintaraa - Fresh Okra Escalopes (lady's fingers), tossed with tomatoes, onions and spices. If you are a vegetarian, this is a must try. You will love it even if you're a carnivore.

Dhaniya Aloo - Aromatic potatoes dry cooked with fresh coriander rub, eaten with a squeeze of lemon - delicious! Another great dish for vegetarian lovers.

Murg Makhni - Boneless tandoori chicken with a mild and aromatic cream sauce.

Mutton Rogan Josh - A classic Kashmiri dish and the chef's specialty; lamb curry with mustard oil, ginger, fennel and yogurt - absolutely outstanding! A personal favorite. The words "Rogan Josh" means cooked in oil at intense heat.

Murg Dum Biryani - Basmati rice with chicken slow cooked in a sealed earthenware pot. Basmati means "the fragrant one" in Sanskrit, but it can also mean "the soft rice. It is a long grain rice grown in India and Pakistan, notable for its fragrance and delicate, nuanced flavor.

Hyderabadi Lamb Biryani - Basmati rice with Hyderabad-spiced lamb slow cooked in a sealed earthenware pot. Hyderabad is the capital and the most populous city of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. Known as the City of Pearls.

Kashmiri Naan - A leavened, oven-baked flatbread studded with dried fruits. Naan is one of the most popular varieties of South Asian breads.

Garlic Naan - with fresh butter baste and sprinkled with minced garlic. It taste good even when you eat it on its own. Taste even better when you dipped it into curry or dahl.

This is probably my favorite restaurant in Miri by far. If you are an Indian foods lover just like me. Be sure to give it a try. You won't regret it even a bit. The price might be a little expensive. But rest assured, its worth every single penny.
